The concept of the Camaro model has not changed for more than 50 years. This car was conceived as a spectacular means of transportation for wealthy students, young families or those who, in principle, do not think about starting a family. As a concept car, the fifth generation Camaro was introduced back in 2006 at the Detroit Motor Show. After 3 years, the car went into mass production.
It is interesting that not an American, but a designer from South Korea was responsible for the design of the Camaro. Despite this appearance was a success. Even now, when the first released cars of the 5th generation are 10 years old, the Camaro attracts curious looks. A year later, the power increased to 323 hp. After all the changes, the engine even received a new LFX index instead of the previous LLT.
In our market, you can meet the Camaro not only in the coupe, but also in the convertible. There are no complaints about the kinematics of the soft folding roof. Another thing is that it will have to be protected even more than the car itself. If a foreign object gets into the mechanism, it will certainly damage it. Repair of the mechanical part will cost a lot, and the original parts themselves will cost even more. Only one tire of the folding mechanism will cost a “round sum”. There are enough cases when vandals throw a cigarette butt on the soft top or rip open the fabric with a knife. A new soft top can be ordered directly from the USA or a new one can be made here, but again, this pleasure will not come cheap.
It is also worth considering that during heavy rains, water can accumulate in the back of a convertible. Interestingly, for the coupe version, this problem does not exist. You can prevent the formation of a swamp in the trunk by replacing the trunk lid seal.
The 8-cylinder engine was available in 3 versions. 432 hp version implied the presence of “mechanics”, a version with a power of just under 400 hp. – automatic box. The most powerful 8-cylinder modification with an engine capacity of 6.2 liters developed 550 hp. On the basis of modifications with the “eights”, the Americans managed to make a lot of limited versions, but due to the initially small circulation, they are not found in our secondary market.
This car is practically devoid of chronic problems. When refueling with good fuel, changing oil and filters, according to the regulations, the engines will not cause problems up to 150-170 thousand kilometers. Only those owners who drive too aggressively will have to turn to the service unscheduled.
Due to constant sharp starts from a place, the main pair and bearings in the rear axle differential suffer. Few people can solve the problem on their own. By the way, the manufacturer claims that the working fluid in the differential is designed for 150 thousand kilometers, but experts advise changing it at least once every 80 thousand kilometers.
