Which engine is better?

Many experts advise purchasing an Alfa Romeo 156 car equipped with the latest engine presented. This unit causes the least number of problems during operation, and also allows you to achieve high power in the operation of the car.

For those who prefer a racing style of driving, the TBi engine, which is also found on racing cars, is suitable. However, it is worth noting that in the case of using this unit, it will be necessary to carry out regular inspection and replacement of elements that are subject to rapid wear.

The compact luxury Alfa Romeo 147, which replaced the 145 and 146 models, was produced from 2000 to 2010. The car, with a chassis from a large 156th sedan, boasts an impressive line of powertrains and a variety of gearboxes. This led to the popularity and success of sales of the 147th, thanks to which in 2001 the model was awarded the title “Car of the Year“.

In addition to the usual Alfa Romeo 147 models, top modifications were also produced. One of them is the 147 GTA, with a 3.2L V6 engine producing 250 hp. and developing speeds up to 246 km / h, which was introduced in 2002. The first cars had a 6-speed manual transmission, later ones were equipped with Selespeed. In total, just over 5,000 of these machines were created. An improved version of GTA was also produced – with a 3.7-liter V6 engine producing 328 hp, as well as a turbocharged Rotrex system, developing up to 400 hp. Both modifications are from tuning studio Autodelta.

Which Alfa Romeo 166 engine is best?
It is rather difficult to imagine the Alfa Romeo 166 without a solid power unit – in this model they are very generous in return, which goes hand in hand with fuel consumption. The reliability of internal combustion engines on used cars depends on the quality of after-sales service. So, on average, candles last about 50 thousand km, and it is better to change the timing belt after 60 thousand km of run.

One of the most common problems with 166 engines is engine oil leaks, which are usually found both on the engine itself and on the gearbox.
Among the Alfa Romeo 166 diesel units, we can recommend the 2.4 JTD with the Common Rail system. This engine has a moderate appetite, but at the same time provides excellent dynamics. Nozzles are able to withstand even the lowest quality diesel fuel, which is often found in the Russian Federation. With high mileage, you will have to reckon with EGR valve problems and flywheel wear.

Six-speed manual transmissions are quite worn out – usually the gear selection mechanism itself turns out to be loose. With ZF machines, everything is much more complicated. Alfa Romeo are generally not driven slowly, which is why automatic transmissions are often worn out.
