Audi A6 C7 (2011–2018) Electrical Problems

Battery discharge

Often the cause is a faulty comfort module, keyless entry system or MMI multimedia, which continue to operate in "sleep" mode.

Symptoms: rapid battery discharge, especially after overnight parking.

MMI unit (multimedia) malfunctions

Screen freezes, no sound, GPS problems.

Culprits: moisture in the trunk (the unit is located below), software failure.

Headlight errors (xenon/LED)

One headlight flashes or goes out.

The ignition unit or wiring often fails.

Central lock and doors

Problems with opening/closing doors, malfunctions of the handles with keyless entry.

Cause: wear of microcircuits in the handles or damage to the wiring harnesses.

Touch buttons and climate control

Sometimes individual buttons on the panel stop working.

Either the cables or the sensor unit failure are to blame.

ABS/ESP and sensor errors

Often caused by oxidation of connectors or damage to wiring.

Fuse and relay box

Overheating or oxidation of contacts leads to periodic shutdowns of electrical equipment.

How to prevent problems

  • Check connectors and wiring harnesses regularly (especially in the doors and trunk).
  • Make sure the trunk and interior are tightly sealed (MMI and control units are sensitive to moisture).
  • Update software at an authorized dealer or using VCDS/ODIS.
  • Use only high-quality batteries and monitor their condition.
